Thomas Arangio,
President
Tom Arangio is in his 25th year as a
Farmingdale Library Board Trustee. He served as President of the Board
from 1997-1999 and is currently Board President. He is also the
Treasurer of the Friends of the Farmingdale Library, the number one
support group for the library. He is a voracious reader and has been a
staunch supporter of our library system since moving to Farmingdale.
Tom's entire business career has been in finance; he is currently Senior
Credit and Collections Analyst with a large, well-known Long Island
company. His primary interests outside his career, are traveling, golf,
reading, and spending time with his family and five grandchildren.
Laura Ulric, Vice-President
Laura's long service as a Library
Trustee has witnessed a period of great growth for the library. Her
first project was to work diligently with the Friends of the Library and
with the community to get the new library approved and built. In fact,
she was the president of the board when the new facility was opened.
Laura is a graphic
designer. She also designs and makes the costumes for the plays at the
Farmingdale High School and is active in a number of community groups as
well as the library. She is a member of the Farmingdale Community Summit
Council, where she serves on the Community Expo Committee, and she
serves on the executive board of the Friends of the Farmingdale Library.
Laura is the library's liaison to the school board and travels with the
Lobby Committee to Albany in pursuit of more state aid for our district.
She is also a member of the school district's facilities committee.
Laurie Rozakis, Ph.D., Secretary
The author of
more than 100 books, Dr. Rozakis frequently appears on television,
including Live with Regis and Kelly; CBS Morning Show; and
the Maury Povich Show. Her career and books have been profiled in
The New York Times, the New York Daily News, Time
Magazine, and the
Chicago Tribune.
Laurie Rozakis, Ph.D., a full professor of English at
Farmingdale
State University
, is the current Secretary of the Board of Trustees. With thirty
years of continuous service on the Board, she is the senior member. In
addition to her work on the Library Board, Dr. Rozakis is active in
other community groups, most notably Girl Scouts.
Rosemary
Trudden, Trustee
In addition to
being a Library Board Trustee, Rosemary Trudden is very active in
community affairs. The former president and long-time member of the
Farmingdale Women's Club, Ms. Trudden runs numerous beautification
projects, administers scholarships, raises funds for scholarships, and
organizes fashion shows. Ms. Trudden is an honorary member of the
Farmingdale Junior League, a member of Kiwanis, a member of St. Kilian's
Women's Guild, and a volunteer for St. Kilian's Outreach.
Library Director Deborah Podolski
Debbie
Podolski has spent over twenty years in libraries. She started her
career as a library volunteer at the Port Washington Public Library
where she subsequently worked as a librarian for fifteen years. She also
worked at the Nassau Library System, an organization that provides
services to the 54 public libraries in Nassau County. She has her MLS
from C.W. Post in addition to an MS in Secondary Education and
certification as a School District Administrator. She worked two years
at the Nassau BOCES School Library System.
In addition to her duties as Library Director, Mrs. Podolski is
President of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of Rotary
District 7250, and Co-Chairperson of the Farmingdale Community Summit
Council 's
Farmingdale Reads committee. She is also a resident of District #22.
