Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), most of our participating museums and galleries have CLOSED to the public.
If you are planning on visiting a museum, garden or park, please check their website or contact them to find out about any closures or changes in service or events.
Museums that are OPEN are limiting the number of people who may enter at one time. There will also be a time limit of how long you may stay at the museum.
All museums require a face mask to be worn before entering their museum.
Museums that are Requiring Additional Reservations
Brooklyn Botanic Garden: Opens August 7. Patrons can reserve tickets to the Garden using the link below. Please choose the “welcome week” ticket option. You WILL NOT need the museum pass to enter.
Starting September 1, patrons visiting the Garden MUST reserve tickets and have the library membership pass to enter. Please choose the “partner ticket” option.

Children’s Museum of the East End: Patrons who check out this museum pass MUST make a reservation with the museum before reserving this museum pass. To make a reservation, please click on the link below.
Intrepid Museum: Patrons must reserve FREE tickets here www.intrepidmuseum.org/purchase-tickets.aspx?PartnerID=1019 before their visit. You will need to show your Farmingdale Public Library along with your tickets to enter the museum.
New York Botanical Garden: In addition to reserving the museum pass, patrons must reserve timed-entry tickets for NYBG in advance before they can visit the gardens. Please call 718-817-8703 OR 718-817-8716 for free timed-entry tickets. You will need to show the museum pass and give your reservation number at the ticket window to receive your tickets.
The Whaling Museum and Education Center: In addition to reserving the museum pass, patrons MUST purchase tickets through the museums website using the code MEMBER20. (There will be no charge.) You may purchase tickets here.
Please call the Children’s Library at 516-249-9090 ext. 224 before purchasing tickets from the museum. You will need to purchase your tickets and make your reservation for the museum pass at the same time. Please have your laptop in front of you when you call.
MUSEUM PASS BORROWING GUIDELINES:
1. Free passes to various museums are available to Farmingdale Public Library cardholders 18 years and older in good standing.
2. Only one pass may be checked out to an individual patron at any given time. Each museum’s pass may be reserved ONCE in a 30-day period.
WE HAVE TWO TYPES OF PASSES:
Print on Demand Pass: Passes may be reserved up to two weeks in advance and can be printed from home or at the library. This pass will only be valid for the Date of Visit listed on the confirmation page.
Pick Up/Return Pass: Passes may be reserved online up to two weeks in advance and can be picked up at the Youth Services Desk. These passes must be returned one day after check out to avoid a fine. In order to not incur a fine, passes are due on the due date by 9PM.
Pick Up/Return Passes CAN be returned in the AV Drop outside the library on the due date by 9PM. Patrons must check that the pass is in the case before dropping it in the AV Drop. Empty cases will be charged a late fee.
Starting November 1, 2018: There is a $25 per day late charge for passes not returned by 9PM on the due date. Maximum fine is $100. Failure to pay the late fine will result in delinquency and the ability to borrow materials, including museum passes from the library.
Pick Up/Return Passes are only available for pick up when the library is OPEN. The library is not responsible for reservations made for Pick Up/Return passes when the library is CLOSED.
